I know this forum is to discuss the OverSite 3 release, but it since 3 has been out for awhile, it seems to be an appropriate place to ask: when is OverSite 4 going to be released? :)

I've pretty much learned all of the new stuff that was added to 3, so I'm anxious for the next round of features!

Hey Wen,

Well, we're working hard on version 4.0! I don't want to promise any particular date at this point, but it should be ready sometime in the second half of the year.

Well, we don't have a finalized list of features yet, but here are a few things you're likely to see in version 4:

  • New wireframe widgets, including dialogs, spinners, and media players
  • Ability to import and export styles, composites, custom colors, and text variables
  • Additional controls for widgets; for example, the ability to specify padding, the ability to adjust individual spreadsheet cells' styles, etc
  • You'll be able to make wireframe canvases "autofit" their components
  • Lots of improvements in editing notes, including the addition of a new static editor panel (similar to what you see in the wireframe panel)
  • You'll be able to automatically hide blank notes
  • You'll be able to duplicate composites, so you won't need to start from scratch when creating a new composite that is similar to an existing one
  • More options for creating legible sitemaps for large site structures
  • Lots of performance improvements
  • Lots of little improvements to make things behave a bit more like you'd expect them too; for example, radio buttons and checkboxes will no longer render at weird sizes; note IDs will make a little more sense; notes will be sorted better before being displayed; etc.

And yes, we always welcome requests! :)
